Autism Support Network Lewes - ASNL
Supporting Parents and Carers of Children with Autistic Spectrum Disorders and Additional Needs
We are a group of parents living around Lewes, East Sussex, whose children have an Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Asperger Syndrome, Dyspraxia, PDA or any other behavioural issue. We meet once a month to learn, share and support one another.
The group is run by volunteers, currently funded by a grant from the Local Partnership for Children.
We are pleased to announce that as from 1st April 2013 we are a branch of Autism Sussex Family Support (ASFS) and are now called AUTISM SUSSEX LEWES. This will help us to provide more services and link up with a countywide approach. This will require families to become members to ASFS, which is a very reasonable £15/year and gives discounted rates on workshops. Membership forms can be downloaded here link
We book a guest speaker each month with an interest in the field, with a view to expanding our understanding of our children and helping them to cope with everyday life.
Our speakers are usually professionals who are kind enough to sacrifice an evening to speak to us on any number of subjects, ranging from coping with life at school to teaching life skills through different communication routes.
Although the group was originally set up to support parents and carers of children with an Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other related conditions, we welcome anyone who has any involvement in the area, including professionals who wish to hear our guest speakers. We welcome all comers to the group, and feel we can offer something to everyone.
...and we're very friendly!
We ask a small annual membership fee to cover costs, or visitors can pay £2 to come along for the evening
We hold our evening meetings at The Phoenix Centre, 26 Malling Street, Lewes, East Sussex. BN7 2RD, with meetings usually starting at 7.30pm. Tea and coffee is available.
